A piano duo formed on September 3, 2002 by integrating the two different playing styles of the two brothers, Moriya and Keito Saito. They performed at the Tokyo Jazz Festival on September 2 2006 as an opening act even before their record debut. Their performance with one piano appealed not only classical music lovers but also wider audiences. They released ‘Anime de Quatre-Mains’ (Aniplex) on September 6 2006. Their debut album ‘Piano Breaker’ was released on November 8 2006 on Universal Music. It debuted on the national weekly album chart at the highest position for the debut album by piano instrumentalists. It reached in Top 20 and was awarded the Gold disc.
Their tour including two European cities from March to November 2007 was remarkably successful. Their 2nd album ‘Piano Pittoresque’ was released on September 3 2008, and they started a tour of 26 cities in Japan and 3 in South Korea, which was overwhelmingly successful. They filmed a concert of the tour and released the DVD ‘Piano Pittoresque / Live’ on July 8 2009. They also released a special album ‘Noël de Quatre-Mains’ on October 21 2009 and toured 10 cities around Japan.
They have been successful in overturning the stereotypical image of conventional piano playing style by combining Moriya's beautiful ballad melody and Keito's dynamic boogie rhythm. With a touch of the original Les Frères taste, they have become a unique duo incomparable to any other groups. The brothers emphasize "harmony" when composing and playing their music. Harmony means many things to them - balance, consonance, or congruence - and their sound "harmonized" on the keyboard creates a huge wave motion that stirs up listeners’ emotions and souls. "It is as though the piano itself is singing and dancing," are the best words to explain the brothers ’ passionate and soulful sound. Their music attracts people of all generations.
*“Quatre-Mains” means ‘four hands’ in French. Their play style was named as “Quatre-Mains style” which was created by their four hands’ capabilities that two hands normally cannot achieve.
